GUTTER PLANNING GUIDE

Gutter Replacement Cost: What Changes the Price?

The fastest way to get a useful gutter budget is to start with linear footage, then account for building height, downspouts and the roofline. A final quote still requires an on-site look.

Start with linear footage

Measure only the horizontal roof edges that will receive gutter. If you are unsure, a rough estimate can still produce a planning range. Our estimator uses $10–$15 per linear foot for standard one-story gutter work, $10–$18 for two stories and $15–$25 for three or more stories.

Downspouts matter

Downspouts add material and labor beyond the horizontal gutter runs. As a planning allowance, 60 Second Gutters uses one downspout per 50 feet of gutter for each story, rounded to a whole downspout. The actual layout depends on roof area, valleys, corners and where water can discharge safely.

Height and access

A simple one-story roofline usually costs less to reach than a tall home, steep grade or tight side yard. Multiple setup areas and difficult ladder access can increase labor even when the gutter footage stays the same.

Removal and existing conditions

Replacement can reveal damaged fascia, loose drip edge or rotted wood. A ballpark should be treated as a planning number until the existing gutter comes off and the attachment surface is checked.
